Shanghai’s Yuyuan Garden Lights Up for Year of the Snake Lantern Festival

Festive lights illuminated Shanghai’s Yuyuan Garden on New Year’s Day as the annual lantern festival kicked off, enchanting visitors from across the globe. This year’s festival celebrates 2025, the Year of the Snake, with vibrant snake-shaped lanterns that coil and sparkle throughout the historic garden.

Guests are treated to an array of dazzling displays, including lanterns depicting animals, forests, and mountains. Many of these creations draw inspiration from the ancient Chinese text, the “Classic of Mountains and Seas“, bringing mythical creatures and legendary landscapes to life.

Under the theme “Everything is beautiful, every life is marvelous,” the festival invites attendees to immerse themselves in a world of wonder and cultural heritage. The magical experience continues until February 12, 2025, offering a luminous journey into Chinese traditions and artistry.
