Chinese designer Zhao Huizhou dazzled the fashion world on March 2 with the debut of her Fall/Winter 2025 collection, “Aurora,” at the historic Palazzo Clerici in Milan. As part of Milan Fashion Week, Zhao’s latest work seamlessly blended Eastern and Western mythologies to explore themes of light, hope, and renewal.
Drawing inspiration from the Chinese myth of Xihe, the sun goddess featured in “The Classic of Mountains and Seas,” and the Western legend of Apollo’s sun chariot, Zhao’s “Aurora” collection illuminates the universal human fascination with light. The designs showcased a vibrant palette and flowing silhouettes, reflecting the journey of the sun across the sky and its symbolic representation of new beginnings.
“The concept of light transcends cultures and connects people globally,” Zhao shared after the show. “I wanted to create a collection that not only honors our rich cultural heritage but also resonates with universal themes of hope and renewal.”
The audience at Palazzo Clerici was captivated by the fusion of mythological elements and contemporary fashion. From intricate embroidery depicting sun motifs to bold accessories symbolizing rays of light, every piece told a story of unity and shared human experience.
Zhao Huizhou’s presence at Milan Fashion Week highlights the growing influence of Chinese designers on the global fashion stage. By interweaving cultural narratives and innovative design, Zhao continues to bridge the gap between East and West, inspiring a new generation of fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
