Follow the Blossoms and Experience the Delights of Spring

Spring Blossoms Draw Tourists to China’s Vibrant Flower Destinations

As the gentle spring breeze sweeps across China, flowers burst into bloom, bringing vibrant colors to popular travel destinations. From plum and cherry blossoms in the east to rapeseed flowers in the south and apricot blossoms in the north, a spectacular floral feast awaits visitors, offering both visual and spiritual delight.

Travel enthusiasm for spring flower tours continues to grow. According to data from Chinese travel platforms, including Meituan, Qunar, and Tuniu, searches for “flower viewing” and “spring outings” have nearly doubled year-on-year as of February 27. Bookings for flower-themed tours have surged since mid-February, with cherry blossoms, rapeseed flowers, peach blossoms, and apricot blossoms attracting significant interest.

With the revival of inbound tourism, this year’s spring flower season has drawn visitors from around the world. Data from Qunar shows that from February 26 to the end of March, the number of domestic flight bookings made with non-Chinese passports has increased by 30 percent year-on-year. The top five destinations include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, highlighting the international appeal of China’s springtime beauty.

“I’ve always wanted to experience the cherry blossoms in Shanghai,” said Maria, a tourist from Brazil. “The pictures I’ve seen are breathtaking, and I can’t wait to see them in person.”

The diverse floral landscapes offer unique experiences. In the eastern regions, cherry blossom festivals are in full swing, while the southern provinces are carpeted with golden rapeseed fields. Northern areas boast apricot blossoms that paint the countryside in shades of pink and white.

Travel experts recommend planning ahead to make the most of the spring season. “This is the perfect time for a spring outing,” said Li Wei, a travel consultant. “Whether you’re a nature lover or just looking to relax, China’s flower destinations have something for everyone.”
