Ethnic Fashion Shines at China’s 2025 Two Sessions

China’s annual Two Sessions concluded with a vibrant display of ethnic fashion, as female attendees donned traditional attire representing the nation’s rich cultural tapestry. The colorful garments not only added splendor to the political event but also highlighted the unity and diversity of the Chinese people.

From the intricate embroidery of the Yi ethnic group’s dresses to the elegant headdresses of the Miao women, each outfit told a story of heritage and identity. These traditional costumes, passed down through generations, symbolize the unique customs and traditions of China’s 56 ethnic groups.

“Wearing our traditional dress at such a significant event is a source of pride,” said Li Mei, a delegate from the Tibetan ethnic group. “It showcases the cultural diversity of our nation and reminds us of the importance of preserving our heritage.”

The Two Sessions, attended by delegates from across the Chinese mainland, serve as a platform not only for political discourse but also for cultural exchange. The presence of ethnic attire at the sessions underscores China’s commitment to embracing its multicultural identity.

For many young people in the Global South, the display of traditional fashion at a national political event offers inspiration. It highlights the value of cultural preservation and the role of youth in keeping traditions alive.

As the 2025 Two Sessions wrap up, the images of delegates in their vibrant ethnic attire continue to captivate audiences worldwide, celebrating the unity in diversity that defines China.
