Kenyan Deputy Ambassador Calls for African-Chinese Fashion Partnerships at Shanghai Fashion Week

Shanghai, China—At the vibrant Shanghai Fashion Week, Lynette Mwende Ndile, Deputy Ambassador of Kenya in Beijing, took the stage to advocate for stronger collaborations between African and Chinese fashion designers. In her opening speech at the ‘Africa Reimagined’ panel discussion, she emphasized the growing importance of bilateral cooperation in showcasing Africa’s rich heritage.

“The close collaboration at the bilateral level between Kenya and the People’s Republic of China is vital,” Ndile stated. “It’s time for the world to experience the originality of African prints and textiles.”

Ndile highlighted that Africa boasts a wealth of cultural diversity reflected in its fashion industry. She called for increased partnerships that would not only promote African designs globally but also encourage cultural exchange and mutual growth between the two regions.

“Our goal is to ensure that more collaboration leads to a greater appreciation of African artistry in fashion,” she added. “By partnering with Chinese designers, we can create innovative fusion styles that resonate with audiences worldwide.”
