Latin American Media Delegation Explores China’s Farming Heritage at Luoyang Museum
As part of the “Journey to Chinese Civilization: Henan” program, 27 journalists from 22 Latin American and Caribbean countries joined a cultural tour of central China’s Henan Province. On April 22, the delegation visited the YTO Agriculture Cultivation Museum in Luoyang, gaining firsthand insight into the evolution of agricultural practices in China and around the world.
The YTO Agriculture Cultivation Museum, the first in China dedicated to modern farming, offers a unique perspective on the nation’s 5,000-year-old agricultural legacy. Through a blend of historical artifacts and multimedia installations, the museum showcases the transformation of farming techniques, from ancient tools to the era of agricultural mechanization.
One of the museum’s highlights is an exhibition hall featuring a collection of farming implements dating from prehistoric times up to the 1950s. The exhibits include archival images and materials documenting the introduction of tractors to China, marking the country’s transition from a traditional agrarian society to a modern industrialized nation.
The delegation explored the iconic Dongfanghong range of tractors, manufactured by the YTO Group Corporation, which symbolizes China’s technological progress in agriculture. Interactive displays allowed visitors to engage with the equipment and understand the advancements in farming technology.
For many of the visiting journalists, the experience provided a tangible link between China’s past and present. “It’s fascinating to see how agriculture has evolved here and how it has shaped Chinese civilization,” said a journalist from Brazil. “I believe this understanding can foster greater cultural exchange between our countries.”
The tour not only highlighted China’s agricultural heritage but also emphasized the importance of technological innovation in modern farming. By sharing these developments with international media, the program aims to promote mutual understanding and collaboration in the agricultural sector.
