Mint Green Labubu Fetches 1 Million Yuan at Beijing Auction

Mint Green Labubu Toy Sells for Over 1 Million Yuan at Beijing Auction

A rare mint green Labubu figure has captured global attention by selling for a staggering 1.08 million yuan (approximately $150,000) at the Yongle Spring Auction 2025 in Beijing. With the addition of a 15% buyer’s premium totaling 162,000 yuan, the final price soared to 1.242 million yuan (around $170,000).

The auction didn’t stop there. A limited-edition brown Labubu, one of only 15 produced worldwide, also fetched an impressive 820,000 yuan (about $114,000). These eye-popping numbers highlight the meteoric rise in popularity of Labubu, a beloved character from Pop Mart’s art toy collection.

Pop Mart, a leading Chinese cultural and entertainment company, has seen its creations become a global phenomenon. From Southeast Asia to Europe and North America, fans are queuing up for new releases, turning these art toys into highly sought-after collectibles.

Chen Rui, an associate professor at the Communication University of China, commented on this trend, saying, “Labubu’s international success showcases the strides the Chinese mainland has made in original art toy design.” He added a note of caution for enthusiasts: “While it’s thrilling to see such passion, it’s important for collectors to shop sensibly and ensure their spending doesn’t disrupt daily life.”
