The 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival kicked off on Thursday in Chongqing, bringing together cinema enthusiasts from across SCO countries. Under the theme “Technology & Film · Charm of the SCO,” the five-day festival promises a fusion of technological innovation and cinematic artistry.
Highlights of the festival include international cooperation forums, tech exhibitions, tourism initiatives, and mesmerizing drone light shows. Attendees can look forward to screenings of dozens of outstanding films from SCO member nations, showcasing diverse cultures and storytelling traditions.
The festival will culminate on July 6 with the announcement of the Jinshancha (Golden Camellia) Awards at the closing ceremony. This prestigious award honors excellence in filmmaking and celebrates the artistic achievements of filmmakers within the SCO region.
This year is particularly significant as it marks the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema.
