Twenty-two years ago, a young artist named Li Yanxun from Chaozhou, Guangdong, stepped into the renowned city of Jingdezhen for the first time. Captivated by the Porcelain Capital’s unique artistry, he was amazed to see that ceramics didn’t have to be uniform and identical. This revelation sparked a transformation in his artistic journey.
Li had dedicated years to mastering ceramic painting, achieving such perfection that collectors often couldn’t tell if his intricate designs were on paper or porcelain. Despite the acclaim and recognition, something felt amiss. “I realized I was just painting on clay, not truly embracing the essence of ceramics,” Li reflected.
