Chasing Boxing Glory: Three Generations Unite in Macao

With his university degree behind him, Alvin Salinas is stepping into a new arena—literally. The young Macao native is swapping textbooks for boxing gloves, chasing his dream to become a legendary fighter.

Guiding him on this journey is his coach, former Asian champion Ng Kuok Kun, affectionately known as “The Macao Kid.” Ng understands the dedication and sacrifice required to reach the top, and he’s committed to passing on his wisdom to Alvin.

Adding a wealth of experience to the team is 90-year-old Chan Iok Seng, who has been training boxers for over six decades. Chan’s lifelong passion for the sport has shaped countless athletes, and his mentorship is invaluable.

Together, these three generations share a common goal: bringing boxing glory to Macao. As Alvin prepares for his first professional bout, he’s not just fighting for himself but for a legacy that spans generations.

“It’s more than just a match,” Alvin says. “It’s about honoring those who paved the way and inspiring those who will follow.”

The path ahead is filled with intense training and personal sacrifices, but with the unwavering support of his coaches, Alvin is poised to make his mark in the ring.

Macao watches with anticipation as this trio strives to put their city on the global boxing map, proving that with unity and determination, dreams can become reality.
