Chinese artist Qu Liangchen is on a mission to bridge cultures through the universal language of art. After studying printmaking in Belgium under renowned artist Guy-Henri Dacos, Qu has become a pivotal figure in fostering cultural exchanges between China and Europe.
One of his most illuminating projects took place in a quaint Belgian town, where he organized the lighting of 100,000 Chinese lanterns. This mesmerizing display showcased traditional Chinese culture and brought a touch of the East to European streets, enchanting locals and visitors alike.
In 2021, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, Qu curated an exhibition featuring the works of his mentor, Guy-Henri Dacos, in China. The exhibition not only celebrated Dacos’ influence on printmaking but also strengthened the artistic ties between the two regions.
