This year’s Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, carries a different mood in Tel Aviv as residents grapple with ongoing tensions with Hamas. The celebrations, usually marked by joy and hope, are now tinged with concern and uncertainty.
Local driver Yosi Barkan shared his feelings about the current atmosphere. “There’s a sense of fear that wasn’t there before,” he said. “We try to celebrate, but the worry is always in the back of our minds.”
Engineer Zeev Goldberg echoed these sentiments. “Rosh Hashanah is a time for new beginnings, but it’s hard to feel that way when there’s so much struggle around us,” he explained. “It’s vastly different from previous years.”
The recent conflicts have impacted daily life in the city, with many residents adjusting their routines. Despite the challenges, communities are coming together to support one another during these uncertain times.
As Tel Aviv moves forward, the hope for peace and normalcy remains strong among its people, who are eager to return to the joyous celebrations they cherish.
