MACAO SAR—As Macao approaches the 25th anniversary of its return to China in 2024, the city’s economy is showing promising signs of diversification. South Korean entrepreneur Kim Yong-jin, who operates two businesses in Macao, shares his optimism about the city’s economic future.
“Macao’s geographical location is incredibly convenient, and the business environment is excellent for overseas companies,” Kim said. He believes that the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) will play a crucial role in helping Macao diversify its economy.
The GBA initiative aims to integrate the economies of Hong Kong, Macao, and nine cities in Guangdong Province. For entrepreneurs like Kim, this means more opportunities and support. “Macao’s entrepreneurial environment is friendly to foreigners. I have received a lot of support from the Macao SAR government,” he noted.
Over the past 25 years, Macao has taken significant steps toward a more varied economy. For young entrepreneurs and students worldwide, the city offers a unique blend of cultural experiences and business prospects.
