American Discovers the Real China Through RedNote App

Young people from the United States and China are connecting in unexpected ways on RedNote, a Chinese social media app that has been popular domestically for over a decade but is only now gaining traction overseas. From discussions about real estate and employment to conversations on education and healthcare, the app is bridging gaps between cultures and fostering new friendships.

One user from Ohio shared how his perceptions of China have evolved since joining RedNote. He remarked, “I found that Chinese people embrace the past and deeply respect their traditions, including those of ethnic minority groups—a stark contrast to what I had heard in American media.”

He was also moved by the appreciation Chinese people expressed toward the United States for its assistance during World War II. This newfound understanding led him to hope for more open and sincere communication between people of both countries, free from prejudice.

The growing interactions on RedNote highlight the potential for technology to bring people together, breaking down misconceptions and building bridges across continents.
