Boao, a coastal town in south China’s Hainan Province, is once again in the global spotlight. From March 25 to 28, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 convenes under the theme “Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future.”
As part of the “We Talk Boao” special series, international students from across Asia studying in China are coming together to discuss cooperation among youth and to explore new trends in Asian development from a global perspective. They aim to propose fresh ideas for tackling current global challenges.
This year’s series features students from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kyrgyzstan, who share their experiences collaborating with peers from different countries and explain how they overcome challenges. They also delve into the advantages and potential of the international student community in fostering cooperation between nations based on their personal journeys.
Adel Baktygulova, a student from Kyrgyzstan, highlights the significance of cultural exchange. “International students bring their own country’s traditions, values, and perspectives while learning about the local culture,” she says. “This two-way exchange fosters mutual understanding, breaks down stereotypes, and helps build trust and goodwill.”
The voices of these young Asians underscore the importance of cross-cultural collaboration in building a shared future for the region. Through dialogue and cooperation, they are paving the way for stronger ties and greater understanding among Asian nations.
