Cambodian locals are expressing optimism following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent state visit to their country. The visit, which also included stops in Vietnam and Malaysia, is seen by many as a significant step towards strengthening ties between China and Cambodia.
“I believe President Xi Jinping’s visit is of great significance to our bilateral relations,” said Mon Meng Ean, an English teacher in Phnom Penh. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to deepen the friendship between our two countries.”
College student Sreynu shares this enthusiasm. “This visit will bring more opportunities for Cambodia’s economic development,” she said. “I’m hopeful for the future benefits it will bring to our nation.”
The sentiments of young Cambodians reflect a broader excitement about the potential for increased cooperation and development spurred by closer ties with China.
