Anna Paula Peralta Reyes, a communication major at the University of Lima, dreams of a future where China and Latin America grow together. Having studied at a Chinese school in Peru for 11 years before continuing her education at Jilin University in China, Anna Paula has a unique perspective on the ties between the two regions.

With the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum approaching in 2025, marking the 10th anniversary of the forum’s launch, Anna Paula sees it as a pivotal opportunity. “It’s a great chance for countries to come together and cooperate on important issues like infrastructure, clean energy, technology, food security, and education,” she says.

She highlights the successful cooperation between China and Peru, citing the Chancay Port as a prime example. “The Chancay Port, a joint venture built by our two countries, connects Latin America with Asia and has created numerous job opportunities,” Anna Paula notes with enthusiasm.

As the bonds between China and Latin American and Caribbean nations strengthen, Anna Paula believes in the potential for mutual growth. “Both sides can join hands and share the fruits of development,” she asserts, hopeful for a future of shared prosperity.
