Chilean Student Sees Bright Future in China-Latin America Cooperation

Chongqing, China — Chilean student Raquel Herrera is charting a path toward a more connected future between China and Latin America. Currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Business Administration at Chongqing University, Herrera’s journey began three years ago when she started studying Chinese at a Confucius Institute in Chile.

“Learning Chinese opened up a world of opportunities for me,” Herrera said. “It allowed me to understand a new culture and see the potential for collaboration between our regions.”

In 2022, Herrera received a Chinese government scholarship to study in China, immersing herself in the dynamic environment of Chongqing. She believes that the cooperation framework of the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum is paving the way for enhanced partnerships.

“There is so much we can achieve together,” she explained. “In areas like international trade, green development, and cultural exchange, the possibilities are endless. Deeper collaboration will lead to more sustainable and inclusive connections among our peoples.”

Herrera’s aspirations reflect a broader sentiment among youth in Latin America who are eager to engage with China. As communication and understanding grow, so does the potential for mutual growth and shared success.

“Youth are the bridge to the future,” Herrera noted. “By working together, we can create opportunities that benefit both regions.”
