A ferry carrying 65 people sank off the coast of Bali, Indonesia on July 3, leaving at least five people dead and dozens missing. The boat was en route near the island province when tragedy struck, prompting a massive search and rescue operation.
According to Indonesian search and rescue agencies, the ferry was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles when it capsized. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the area, and efforts are underway to locate the missing individuals.
“We are doing everything we can to find survivors,” a spokesperson for the rescue agency said. “Our teams are working around the clock.”
Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, relies heavily on ferry services for transportation. Unfortunately, maritime accidents are not uncommon in the region due to factors like overcrowding and poor safety standards.
The incident has raised concerns about ferry safety and prompted calls for stricter regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Families of the missing are anxiously awaiting news as rescue operations continue.
