Brazilian Teens Recommend Essential Chinese Phrases for BRICS Summit

As the 17th BRICS Summit approaches, Brazilian youth are embracing Chinese language and culture. The summit, set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 6 to 7, has sparked interest among young Brazilians eager to connect with China.

Students from the Confucius Institute at the Federal University of Bahia shared the Chinese phrases they believe everyone must learn. High school student Antonio Alves Campos Neto finds “Excuse me, where is this place?” extremely useful for navigating new environments.

Biologist Francisco Sanches Gomes recommends the phrase “Should I scan your code, or will you scan mine?” He notes that it’s not only handy for adding friends on WeChat but also essential in various payment situations, reflecting the digitized lifestyle in China.

The enthusiasm among Brazilian youth highlights the growing cultural exchange between the two nations. As the BRICS Summit brings leaders together, these young learners showcase the importance of language in bridging cultures.
