Young Brazilians Share Their Favorite Chinese Cities Ahead of BRICS Summit

As the 17th BRICS Summit approaches in Rio de Janeiro, young Brazilians are turning their eyes eastward, sharing their favorite destinations in China. Students from the Confucius Institute at the Federal University of Bahia have opened up about the Chinese cities they most wish to visit.

Biologist Francisco Sanches Gomes is captivated by Beijing. “The city’s rich history fascinates me,” he says. “From the Temple of Heaven to the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, Beijing is a living museum.”

Harpist Alice Emery is drawn to the natural beauty of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. “The mountains and rivers there are like something out of a painting,” she shares. “It’s a place where nature and culture blend seamlessly.”

Graduate student Beatriz Gramacho Favero favors Xi’an for its historical and cultural atmosphere. “Xi’an was the starting point of the Silk Road,” she notes. “Walking through the city feels like stepping back in time.”

With the BRICS Summit fostering closer ties between Brazil and China, these young voices highlight the growing interest in Chinese culture and history among Brazilian youth.
