Qufu City in east China’s Shandong Province is gearing up to host the 11th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations on July 9 and 10, bringing together participants from around the globe. The forum aims to foster academic excellence through dialogue between civilizations, exploring ways for harmonious coexistence in the era of globalization.
As the hometown of Confucius, Qufu provides a symbolic backdrop for discussions on cultural exchange and mutual understanding. In anticipation of the event, CGTN reporter Nadim Diab engaged international students living in China to test their knowledge of Confucius’ famous sayings.
Students from various countries participated in a lively quiz, reflecting on the timeless wisdom of Confucius and how his teachings resonate in today’s world. “It’s fascinating to see how Confucian principles still apply to modern life,” said one student. Another added, “Learning about Confucius has deepened my appreciation for Chinese culture and its global influence.”
The Nishan Forum serves as a platform for intellectuals, scholars, and youth to exchange ideas on cultural diversity and shared values. By highlighting the perspectives of young people, the forum emphasizes the importance of intercultural dialogue in building a more harmonious global community.
With globalization bringing societies closer together, events like the Nishan Forum underscore the need for mutual respect and understanding among different cultures. As the international participants gather in Qufu, the legacy of Confucius continues to inspire conversations that bridge gaps and promote unity.
