Indonesian Student Hopes BRICS Boosts Green Cooperation

The 15th BRICS Summit recently wrapped up in Johannesburg, South Africa, bringing together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss cooperation and development. Among those closely watching the summit was Celia Annetta, an Indonesian international student studying at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Annetta believes that her home country has much to gain from strengthened ties with BRICS nations. “Indonesia is rich in natural resources,” she said. “Cooperation with BRICS countries can help us find more sustainable ways to utilize these resources and benefit everyone.”

As a young Indonesian, Annetta hopes that BRICS will focus on cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, digital technology, and green energy in the future. “Green cooperation is essential for our generation,” she emphasized. “We need to work together to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable growth.”

While Indonesia is not yet a member of BRICS, there is growing interest in the country about the possibilities such a partnership could bring. “Joining BRICS could bring more investment and new markets to Indonesia,” Annetta noted. “It could provide support for the modernization of infrastructure and agriculture, among other sectors.”

For Annetta and many young people in Indonesia, the future lies in international collaboration. “By working with other countries, especially through platforms like BRICS, we can build a better future for all,” she said.
