Gaza City, July 8, 2025 — An Israeli air strike struck a school sheltering displaced civilians in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza early this morning, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries, according to local witnesses.
Survivors described a chaotic scene as explosions rocked the area without warning. “We were sleeping when suddenly everything was on fire,” said Adnan Wishah, a resident of the camp. “Innocent civilians living in tents were burned.”
Another witness, Mohammed Abu Jabr, recounted the harrowing moments after the strike. “The school was hit by drones,” he said. “The blasts were powerful, killing and injuring many.”
The Al-Bureij camp, home to thousands of people, has become a makeshift refuge for families displaced by ongoing conflicts. The attack on the school, which served as a sanctuary for these families, has raised concerns about the safety of civilians in the region.
There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military regarding the incident.
The strike adds to the growing number of casualties in the area and highlights the urgent need for measures to protect non-combatants amid escalating tensions.
