Egyptian Young Director Envisions Brics Film Collaboration Video Poster

Young Egyptian Filmmaker Envisions Cross-Cultural BRICS Films

Ahmed Alaa, a rising Egyptian filmmaker and part of Generation Z, is eager to collaborate with filmmakers from BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—to produce innovative, cross-cultural films. Inspired by the recent 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 6 to 7, 2025, Ahmed sees immense potential in the BRICS cooperation framework to bridge cultures through cinema.

“Film is a powerful medium that transcends borders,” Ahmed shared. “By working together, we can tell stories that resonate with audiences around the world and showcase the rich diversity of our cultures.”

Ahmed also advocates for the establishment of a joint organization dedicated to promoting cultural and academic exchanges among BRICS countries. He believes such an initiative would empower young creatives to connect across diverse cultures, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.

“Empowering the youth is essential for the future of our global community,” he said. “Through shared platforms and resources, we can nurture talent and innovation across all BRICS nations.”

This vision echoes the sentiments of many young people who participated in the CGTN initiative inviting perspectives on the BRICS mechanism. They envision a future where cultural and academic collaborations are the norm, driving progress and unity among nations.
