Large flocks of migratory birds have been gliding gracefully over the melting ice of the Yellow River in east China’s Shandong Province.
The spectacular sight unfolded in Dongying City, a coastal stopover point that plays a vital role for these feathered travelers on their long migratory journeys.
Since February 7, ice floes have been observed on the Yellow River, stretching over 400 kilometers from Taian City to the river’s mouth. The densest ice formations have appeared in Dongying, creating a unique landscape where melting ice and avian life converge.
As temperatures rise and the ice begins to thaw, a picturesque scene emerges. Birds rest on floating ice before taking flight, painting a dynamic picture of nature’s resilience and beauty.
The melting ice not only signals the change of seasons but also provides a transient habitat for migratory birds, highlighting the ecological importance of the Yellow River region.
