Npc Deputy Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Boost Rural Revitalization

Green Transformation Elevates Xinchuan Village to Prosperity

Xinchuan Village, Zhejiang Province – Once facing environmental degradation, Xinchuan Village in east China’s Zhejiang Province has transformed into a model of rural revitalization through green development.

Speaking at the Deputies’ Corridor before the opening of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) on Wednesday, NPC deputy Zhang Tianren shared the village’s inspiring journey. In the 1980s, Xinchuan’s ecological environment suffered due to neglect. Over the past two decades, however, the village has embraced sustainable practices, including waste sorting, road hardening, and greening initiatives.

Integrating into the new energy industry chain, Xinchuan has encouraged villagers to develop leisure agriculture, rural tourism, and boutique homestays. These efforts have not only restored the village’s natural beauty but also boosted the local economy. With a population of over 3,000, Xinchuan now hosts over 80 enterprises, and the annual per capita income has soared to 150,000 yuan (nearly $21,000).

“Our village’s transformation shows that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” Zhang said. “By focusing on green development, we’ve paved the way for prosperity while preserving our environment.”

Xinchuan has also built a demonstration zone for common prosperity and partnered with villages in neighboring provinces. By sharing Zhejiang’s experience in rural revitalization, the village aims to promote common development and prosperity across the region.

The success of Xinchuan Village serves as an example for rural areas worldwide, highlighting how sustainable practices can lead to economic growth and improved livelihoods.
