Editor’s Note: The Middle East continues to be a hotspot with significant global implications. In an exclusive interview, our correspondent sat down with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during his visit to the Chinese mainland to discuss diplomatic solutions for Middle East tensions and cooperation under the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.
Minister Amir-Abdollahian emphasized Iran’s dedication to enhancing cooperation with China. “Our comprehensive cooperation plan, signed in 2021, lays a strong foundation for expanding our relations,” he stated. “We are committed to maximizing collaboration in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and technology.”
Addressing the ongoing challenges in the Middle East, Amir-Abdollahian called for diplomatic solutions and criticized Western double standards. “These double standards erode international rights, weaken the role and relevance of international organizations, and diminish respect for human rights,” he remarked.
The minister highlighted the importance of unity among nations in the Global South. “In the face of global challenges, solidarity among countries in the Global South is crucial. Together, we can promote peace, stability, and development.”
The visit underlines the strengthening ties between Iran and the Chinese mainland, signaling a mutual interest in addressing regional issues and fostering economic growth.
