Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently paid a state visit to China from January 14 to 17. In an exclusive interview, he shared his insights on China’s remarkable progress in innovation and how Sri Lanka aims to learn from China’s development model.
“We are studying and learning from China’s development model,” President Dissanayake said. He highlighted China’s rapid advancements in technology and infrastructure as a source of inspiration for Sri Lanka’s own growth ambitions.
Discussing Sri Lanka’s vision for the future, President Dissanayake elaborated on plans for the Hambantota Port and Port City Colombo projects. These initiatives are central to his strategy to transform Sri Lanka into a key economic hub in the region.
“Our goal is to position Sri Lanka as a pivotal point in global trade and commerce,” he explained. “By enhancing our ports and infrastructure, we aim to attract international investment and create new opportunities for our people.”
