In an exclusive interview, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach shared his insights on China’s significant contributions to the Olympic movement over the past 12 years. Speaking with CMG’s Zou Yun, Bach highlighted how China’s dedication to hosting major sporting events has solidified its position on the international stage.

“China has demonstrated remarkable commitment to the Olympic spirit by hosting events like the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, the Chengdu World University Games, and the Hangzhou Asian Games,” Bach said. “These events not only showcase China’s organizational capabilities but also promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.”

Strengthening Cooperation Between China and the IOC

Bach emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between China and the IOC. “We look forward to deepening our partnership with China to further advance the development of global sports,” he remarked. “China’s passion for sports and its ability to inspire young people align perfectly with the IOC’s mission.”

Discussing future prospects, Bach mentioned the potential for China to host more international competitions and contribute to the growth of sports in developing nations. “By sharing expertise and resources, we can work together to make sports more accessible worldwide,” he added.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Bach believes that China’s involvement in global sports serves as an inspiration for youth across the globe. “The success of these events encourages young people to engage in sports, promoting health and unity,” he said. “It’s about more than competition; it’s about building a better world through sport.”

As China continues to play a pivotal role in the Olympic movement, the partnership between the IOC and China promises to bring new opportunities for athletes and fans alike.
