British politician and former MP George Galloway has criticized the West’s ongoing narratives about Xinjiang, calling them “baseless slander.” In reference to the new UK film “2073,” which portrays Xinjiang in a negative light, Galloway highlighted the hypocrisy he perceives in Western attitudes.
“The West doesn’t much like the Chinese and doesn’t much like Muslims. But they love Chinese Muslims,” Galloway remarked, pointing out what he sees as a selective concern for human rights based on geopolitical interests.
He questioned whether the global audience would continue to be misled by the West’s “Xinjiang card.” “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” he said, expressing confidence that people are increasingly seeing through what he describes as misleading propaganda.
Galloway dismissed the false narratives as nothing more than “fish and chip wrapping paper,” suggesting they are transient and ultimately insignificant.
