China, Japan, and South Korea have come together in Tokyo for a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges. The trilateral talks on March 22 mark a significant step in promoting peace and prosperity in East Asia.

“Our three nations have a combined population of nearly 1.6 billion and an economic output exceeding $24 trillion. With our vast markets and great potential, we can exert significant influence,” said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the meeting.
This visit marks Wang Yi’s first trip to Japan in over four years and includes co-chairing the 6th China-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue, a platform that has been revived after six years. The renewal of this mechanism underscores the importance of China-Japan relations in the regional context.
The three countries account for a substantial portion of the global economy and trade, making their cooperation vital for upholding multilateralism and fostering a stable international trade system. The meeting provided an opportunity to coordinate responses to global challenges and enhance regional stability.
