Bangladesh’s Muhammad Yunus Sees New Era in China Relations

Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has hailed China as “an inspiration for the whole world” during his recent visit to the country. Attending the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 in Hainan from March 26 to 29, Yunus emphasized the strengthening ties between Bangladesh and China.

“Our nation has greatly benefited from our collaboration with China,” Yunus stated. “I believe our bilateral relations are entering a new stage, one that will bring prosperity to both our peoples.”

Trade and economic cooperation between the two nations have reached new heights in recent years. China has been Bangladesh’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years. With nearly 1,000 Chinese enterprises operating in Bangladesh, over 550,000 jobs have been created, boosting the local economy and providing opportunities for young people.

During his visit, Yunus also spent time in Beijing, where he met with Chinese officials to discuss future initiatives. “China’s development model is truly inspirational,” he remarked. “Their approach to innovation and sustainable growth offers valuable lessons for countries like ours.”

Muhammad Yunus, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for founding the Grameen Bank and pioneering microcredit and microfinance, continues to advocate for economic empowerment in Bangladesh. His optimistic outlook on Bangladesh-China relations signals a promising path ahead for increased cooperation in trade, technology, and cultural exchange.
