Spain and China Strengthen Ties During Prime Minister’s Visit

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s recent visit to China marked a significant step in bolstering relations between Spain, China, and the European Union. The two nations agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields, aiming to address global challenges together and promote economic globalization.

During the meeting on April 11, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Sanchez emphasized the importance of collaboration in protecting international trade and opposing unilateral actions that could disrupt the global economy. The leaders discussed ways to deepen partnerships in trade, investment, innovation, and green energy.

“Spain’s foreign policy is not against anyone and is necessary to build a positive relationship between Spain and China,” stated Prime Minister Sanchez. “Spain and the European Union defend the same principles, values, and interests.”

The visit resulted in several cooperation agreements aimed at facilitating trade and increasing exports of Spanish products to China. Notably, both countries adopted an Action Plan (2025-2028) focusing on strategic areas such as science and technology, education, culture, and sustainable development.

These agreements are expected to boost economic ties and contribute to regional and global stability. The partnership opens new opportunities for both nations to collaborate on mutual interests and overcome external challenges.
