China and Bolivia Boost Partnership for a Brighter Future

China and Bolivia are taking their friendship to new heights! On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Bolivian President Luis Arce during the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The two leaders discussed aligning China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Bolivia’s 2025 development plan, aiming to expand cooperation in various fields.

President Xi highlighted the positive momentum in China-Bolivia relations, noting that both countries have firmly supported each other on issues of core interest and major concern. He emphasized the tangible benefits the BRI has brought to both nations and expressed China’s support for Bolivia’s independent development path.

With the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations approaching next year, President Xi sees it as a prime opportunity to deepen historical friendship, strengthen strategic trust, and elevate the partnership to a new level. He called for increased exchanges between governments, legislative bodies, political parties, and local entities, as well as expanded cooperation in infrastructure, high-altitude agriculture, green development, and the digital economy.

President Arce expressed gratitude for China’s assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic and praised the remarkable achievements of China’s modernization under President Xi’s leadership. He conveyed Bolivia’s eagerness to celebrate the upcoming anniversary and to deepen the strategic partnership.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of collaborating within multilateral frameworks like the United Nations, BRICS, and the China-CELAC Forum. They aim to promote unity and self-reliance among Global South countries and to advance common development goals.

This strengthened cooperation signals a promising future for both nations, with plans to enhance connectivity, support national development, and improve the well-being of their peoples.
