Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned that the conflict in Ukraine risks escalating into a global crisis following recent missile attacks on Russia’s Kursk and Bryansk regions. In a televised address on Thursday, Putin stated that these developments have given the conflict a global dimension.
“Since this moment, as we have underscored repeatedly, the conflict in Ukraine, provoked by the West, has obtained elements of global nature,” he said. Putin emphasized that Russia would respond decisively to any further escalations.
The president asserted Russia’s right to target military facilities of countries that use their weapons against Russia. “I would like to stress once again that it is not Russia that is destroying the international security system, but the United States,” Putin added.
In his address, Putin also announced the successful testing of a new medium-range ballistic missile named Oreshnik. This development is seen as a response to what Russia perceives as increasing enemy actions.
