Beijing, Saturday — Chinese President Xi Jinping returned home after an 11-day tour that strengthened ties with Latin America and emphasized global cooperation at the APEC and G20 Summits. The trip, hailed as a success by China’s Foreign Ministry, showcased China’s commitment to multilateralism and inclusive development.
In Lima, Peru, President Xi attended the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, urging Asia-Pacific economies to embrace true multilateralism. He highlighted the importance of building an open and interconnected regional framework, promoting green innovation, and pursuing inclusive growth.
A significant highlight was the virtual inauguration of Chancay Port in Peru, South America’s first smart and green port. Once completed, it promises to boost Peru’s economy and create a new land-sea corridor linking Asia and Latin America.
At the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, President Xi shared China’s vision for global governance, calling for development that is inclusive, beneficial to all, and resilient. He announced China’s commitment to eight actions for global development, including joining the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
In Brazil, Xi met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, marking a new milestone in China-Brazil relations. The two leaders agreed to deepen their partnership, aligning China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Brazil’s development strategies, and fostering cooperation for a more just and sustainable world.
President Xi also held constructive meetings with leaders from the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other nations. Discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, addressing global challenges, and promoting mutual understanding.
Throughout his journey, President Xi emphasized China’s dedication to high-quality development and openness. He invited global partners to collaborate with China, aiming for peaceful development, mutually beneficial cooperation, and shared prosperity.
