China’s Vision for a Shared Future in Maritime Governance
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on nations around the world to join hands in elevating global maritime governance. Speaking via live video on Tuesday at a symposium on global maritime cooperation and ocean governance, Wang emphasized China’s readiness to work with other countries through the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI).
“Global governance is facing new opportunities and challenges,” Wang said. “Active promotion of global maritime governance and building a maritime community with a shared future are integral to creating a community with a shared future for all.”
Wang urged all parties to promote high-quality and sustainable marine development, maintain universal and lasting maritime security, and encourage the global exchange of marine culture. He stressed that the international community agrees on the need to strengthen dialogue and cooperation, maintain maritime peace and stability, and advance global maritime governance.
“China is ready to work hand in hand with the international community to promote maritime peace, prosperity, and civilizational integration for all countries,” Wang concluded.
The symposium highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling maritime challenges and fostering mutual understanding among nations.
