China and Kazakhstan Commit to Further Cooperation

China and Kazakhstan have pledged to deepen their cooperation following a high-level meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu. The meeting took place on Sunday after the fifth China-Central Asia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan Province.

During their discussions, both sides expressed a strong willingness to enhance collaboration across various sectors. Wang Yi highlighted the close geographical proximity and shared values between China and Kazakhstan, describing them as permanent friendly neighbors with deep people-to-people ties. He emphasized that deepening cooperation aligns with the common interests of both nations and meets the expectations of their peoples.

Wang Yi called on both countries to fully implement the significant agreements reached by their leaders, strengthen political mutual trust, and support each other firmly. He urged joint efforts to promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, advance the building of a China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future, and support each other’s modernization goals.

Murat Nurtleu expressed Kazakhstan’s appreciation for China’s support in safeguarding the sovereignty and independence of Central Asian countries. He reaffirmed that China is regarded as a reliable and permanent comprehensive strategic partner and a diplomatic priority for Kazakhstan. Nurtleu reiterated Kazakhstan’s adherence to the one-China principle and its firm support for China on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Xizang.

The Kazakh official conveyed his country’s readiness to align development strategies with China and to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state effectively. He expressed optimism about ushering in another “golden 30 years” of bilateral relations, emphasizing the potential for enhanced cooperation and shared prosperity.
