China and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to deepen their cooperation across various sectors, aiming to strengthen their bilateral relationship and enhance regional partnerships.
On Saturday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister Kulubaev Zheenbek Moldokanovich in Chengdu, China. The two leaders highlighted the rapid development of their nations’ relations and celebrated successful projects that have bolstered collaboration.
Among the notable initiatives is the upcoming launch of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway, which is expected to facilitate trade and connectivity in the region. Additionally, the phased opening of the Beshkent border port promises to enhance cross-border trade and infrastructure development.
“We should continue to carry forward the fine tradition of mutual respect and support,” Wang Yi stated. “By deepening strategic trust and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, we can elevate the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.”
China expressed its willingness to accelerate the signing of an intergovernmental services trade and investment agreement, providing a legal framework for continued collaboration. Improvements to infrastructure at key border ports and increasing direct flights between the two countries were also discussed as ways to facilitate the movement of people and goods.
Kulubaev praised the strong alignment of interests between China and Kyrgyzstan, noting that there are no political differences between the two countries. He emphasized the successful high-level exchanges that have taken place this year, including meetings between their heads of state.
“We hope to establish a high-level strategic dialogue mechanism and further strengthen cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, customs, and ports,” Kulubaev said.
Both sides agreed to enhance coordination within international frameworks such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the China-Central Asia mechanism. Kyrgyzstan expressed full support for China’s role as the rotating chair of the SCO and reiterated its commitment to promoting and practicing the “Shanghai Spirit” to advance regional cooperation.
