In Beijing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that the BRICS nations aim for cooperation and mutual prosperity, not confrontation or targeting others. Responding to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s threat of imposing 100 percent tariffs on BRICS countries if they move away from using the U.S. dollar, Lin highlighted the group’s commitment to openness and inclusiveness.
“BRICS is an important platform for developing nations and emerging markets,” Lin said at a daily press briefing. “We advocate for win-win cooperation, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of any third party, all in pursuit of shared development and common prosperity.”
Lin added that China is willing to continue working with BRICS partners to deepen practical cooperation across various fields, contributing to sustained and stable global economic growth.
