China and Chile Forge Stronger Bonds in Beijing Meeting

China and Chile have taken a significant step to strengthen their relationship. On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Chilean counterpart, Alberto van Klaveren Stork, in Beijing. The meeting showcased both nations’ commitment to enhancing their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Wang Yi highlighted the deep friendship shared by the two countries despite the geographical distance. “Our bilateral relations have developed steadily,” he said, praising Chile’s exemplary role in fostering ties with China. He noted that China-Chile relations have entered their best period yet.

With the upcoming 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of their free trade agreement next year, both countries are eager to deepen cooperation. Wang Yi expressed China’s readiness to work with Chile to boost political mutual trust, expand pragmatic cooperation in areas like information technology and clean energy, and enhance connectivity.

Alberto van Klaveren Stork reaffirmed Chile’s firm adherence to the one-China principle, calling it a cornerstone of Chile’s foreign policy. He expressed enthusiasm for strengthening high-level exchanges, deepening cooperation, and welcoming Chinese enterprises to invest in Chile.

As key players in the Asia-Pacific region, China and Chile agreed on the importance of upholding multilateralism and free trade. This meeting signifies a shared vision for future collaboration and mutual growth between the two nations.
