Chinese President Xi Jinping has concluded his visit to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), marking the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China. The three-day trip was filled with celebrations, official ceremonies, and an inspection tour of the region.
President Xi, accompanied by his wife, Peng Liyuan, participated in events commemorating the milestone anniversary. He also oversaw the inauguration of Macao’s sixth-term government, emphasizing the region’s development and integration with mainland China.
As they departed on Friday, Xi and Peng attended a seeing-off ceremony where they shook hands with well-wishers and waved goodbye to cheering crowds. Senior officials, including Cai Qi, accompanied them on the special flight back to Beijing.
The visit highlighted Macao’s unique role within China and underscored the success of the “one country, two systems” principle since the region’s return in 1999.
