President Xi Outlines China’s 2025 Goals in New Year Address

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered his 2025 New Year address, reflecting on a year of significant achievements and outlining an ambitious vision for the future. Speaking from Beijing, President Xi highlighted China’s economic rebound, technological advancements, and commitment to global cooperation.

Economic Growth and Development

“Our economy has rebounded and is on an upward trajectory,” President Xi announced, noting that China’s GDP is expected to surpass 130 trillion yuan. He emphasized the importance of high-quality development and green, low-carbon initiatives, stating, “A more beautiful China is unfolding before us.”

Technological Breakthroughs

President Xi celebrated China’s strides in technology, including the production of over 10 million new energy vehicles in a single year. He also highlighted breakthroughs in integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and quantum communications. Notably, the Chang’e-6 lunar probe successfully collected samples from the far side of the moon, embodying “the lofty spirit and dreams of the Chinese people to explore stars and oceans.”

Fostering Prosperity and Well-being

Visiting various regions across the country, President Xi shared stories of improved livelihoods, from abundant apple harvests in Gansu to bustling markets in Tianjin. He acknowledged the concerns of citizens regarding jobs, education, healthcare, and eldercare, assuring that “these simple wishes are our people’s aspirations for a better life.”

Global Cooperation and Development

Amidst global transformations, President Xi reiterated China’s role as a responsible major country. He emphasized efforts to promote global governance reform and deepen solidarity with the Global South. “We have contributed greatly to the maintenance of world peace and stability,” he stated, highlighting China’s participation in international forums such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and G20.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As China prepares to complete its 14th Five-Year Plan, President Xi called for the implementation of more proactive and effective policies. Prioritizing high-quality development and technological self-reliance, he encouraged confidence amid new challenges. “We grow in the wind and rain, and we get stronger through hard times,” he affirmed.

Unity and Future Aspirations

Touching on national unity, President Xi expressed his commitment to the “One Country, Two Systems” policy for Hong Kong and Macao and highlighted the unbreakable bond between people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. He urged for global collaboration to build a community with a shared future for humanity, stating, “We must jointly create a better future for the world.”

Concluding his address with a message of hope, President Xi invited everyone to “greet the new year with hope” and extended his wishes for harmony, prosperity, and fulfillment of dreams.
