China Reveals Emblem for 2024-2025 SCO Presidency

China has officially unveiled the emblem for its upcoming tenure as the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for 2024-2025. The emblem showcases classical patterns of clouds, thunder, and dragons inspired by bronze ware from the pre-Qin period (before 221 BC).

These ancient motifs are interwoven into the emblem’s outer circle using the traditional Chinese Hui-style pattern, symbolizing an unending cycle of hope, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Following the Astana summit in July 2024, China is set to assume the rotating presidency of the SCO and will host the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State in China. This marks a significant moment as the SCO is the first international organization with China as a founding member and is named after a Chinese city.

The unveiling of the emblem highlights China’s commitment to regional cooperation and its rich cultural heritage, blending ancient art with modern aspirations.
