Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, have sent warm New Year greetings to middle school teachers and students in Washington State, USA. In a heartfelt New Year card, the couple extended their best wishes and highlighted the enduring friendship between China and the United States.
“As we approach 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, we remember the strong bonds forged between our nations,” Xi and Peng wrote. “During those challenging times, our peoples stood together for peace and justice. That friendship, tested by blood and fire, continues to grow stronger.”
The President and First Lady expressed hope that the youth of both countries will continue to participate in exchange and study programs. “We invite 50,000 young Americans to China over the next five years,” they announced, encouraging students to strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and contribute to the development of China-U.S. relations and world peace.
Earlier, over 100 teachers and students from Lincoln High School and Stadium High School, along with the U.S.-China Youth and Student Exchange Association, sent a New Year card to Xi and Peng. Writing in Chinese, they extended their own New Year greetings and wished for everlasting friendship between the two nations.
This exchange highlights the importance of youth in fostering international understanding and cooperation. Through educational exchanges and personal connections, young people can build bridges between cultures and lay the groundwork for a peaceful future.
