Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Mikheil Kavelashvili on becoming the new president of Georgia. In his message, Xi highlighted the strong partnership between China and Georgia, noting that their relationship has been growing positively.
“Political mutual trust between our countries has been continuously strengthened,” Xi said. He emphasized the successful cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative—a global development strategy aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth.
Xi expressed his commitment to working with President Kavelashvili to deepen the friendship between China and Georgia. He hopes to boost mutually beneficial cooperation and promote greater development of bilateral relations for the benefit of both peoples.
Kavelashvili was sworn in as Georgia’s sixth president during a ceremony at the country’s parliament building in late December 2024. His inauguration signals a new era for Georgia, with potential for increased collaboration with international partners like China.
