President Xi Praises Macao’s Youth for Satellite Achievement
December 2024—In a momentous visit to the Macao University of Science and Technology (MUST), President Xi Jinping commended the young faculty members and students for their groundbreaking work in satellite development.
Back in May 2023, two satellites jointly developed by teams from Macao and the mainland were successfully launched into space. The project brought together 18 dedicated faculty members and students from MUST, who poured their hearts into turning this ambitious vision into reality.
Thrilled by their success, the team wrote to President Xi to share their achievements. To their surprise and delight, President Xi not only replied to their letter but also made a special trip to visit their university in December 2024.
“The youth are Macao’s hope and future,” President Xi told the excited crowd. “Your accomplishments in the field of space technology are a testament to your hard work and the potential that lies within each of you.”
The president’s visit has inspired young people across Macao and the mainland, highlighting the importance of collaboration, innovation, and the pursuit of dreams.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said one of the students involved in the project. “President Xi’s encouragement motivates us to keep pushing boundaries and contribute to our society.”
