China is stepping up its efforts to promote peace in the Middle East by hosting a meeting with Russia and Iran in Beijing. On Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced that representatives from the three nations are gathering to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue.
“As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and a participant in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, China has always supported resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means,” Mao said at a news briefing. “We aim to maintain the international non-proliferation regime and promote peace and stability in the Middle East.”
Mao explained that the meeting is intended to enhance communication and coordination among the countries involved. “We hope to create conditions for the early resumption of dialogue and negotiations,” she added.
She urged all parties involved to “remain calm and exercise restraint” to avoid escalating tensions. “We want to prevent any move towards confrontation and conflict,” Mao emphasized.
Expressing optimism, Mao said, “We hope that all parties can meet each other halfway, build trust, dispel doubts, and turn the momentum for resuming dialogue and negotiations into reality as soon as possible.”
The meeting reflects China’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to mediate international issues and contribute to regional stability.
