Mainland Warns of Resolute Action Against Taiwan Secessionists

Chinese Mainland Warns Taiwan Secessionists: Don’t Cross the Red Line

In a firm response to recent statements promoting “Taiwan independence,” a spokesperson for the Chinese mainland cautioned Taiwan secessionists against crossing the red line. On Thursday, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, addressed remarks made by Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te earlier in the day.

During his speech, Lai Ching-te asserted that Taiwan is an “independent and democratic sovereign country” and highlighted what he termed the “Chinese mainland threat.” Chen Binhua denounced Lai’s statements, calling him a “saboteur of cross-Straits peace” and a “cross-Straits crisis maker.”

“Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory and has never been, and will never be, a country,” Chen emphasized. “Taiwan belongs to all the Chinese people. This is an indisputable historical and legal fact, and it is the status quo across the Straits that cannot be changed.”

The spokesperson accused Lai of inciting separatist sentiments and hindering cross-Straits exchanges. He warned that any attempts to seek “Taiwan independence” are doomed to fail. “No individual or force will be allowed to split Taiwan from China, and there is no room for ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities in any form,” Chen added.

The comments underscore the heightened tensions between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, particularly as cross-Straits relations remain a sensitive issue. The Chinese mainland has consistently opposed any moves toward Taiwan’s independence, advocating for peaceful reunification while reserving the right to use force if necessary.
